John Tolhuizen

Folksinger and storyteller, John Tolhuizen, is an accomplished finger style guitarist with a soaring tenor voice. John Tolhuizen is a longstanding member of Berrien County's acoustic music scene with a career spanning 3 decades, having performed, at one time or another, at most of the restaurant, café, or bar musical venues in Southwest Michigan and Northwest Indiana. John is a founding member of the Riversong Music Society, and hosted long-standing open Mic nights at Java Joe's in South Haven, the Monet's and Beatniks Coffeehouses in St. Joseph, and Art's Café in Benton Harbor. John is a previous Host for the current Tuesday night open Mic night at The Box Factory for the Arts, St. Joseph.

In the summer of 2001 John, by then a veteran of over 3,000 gigs, chose to "retire" from the active commercial music scene. "It reached the point where the last set of a three night stand of four sets per night wasn't that much fun any more." John can still be heard at selected summer festivals and special concert events or on his current CD "07-28-01" available at any Riversong event or directly from John, email jwtolhuizen@aol.com
